January 20-22nd, 2017. First Presbyterian Church. Dallas, TX. Mark will lead a leadership retreat for elders, deacons, and youth leaders.
February 1-June 30, 2017. Artist-in-Residence. The 787 Collective (a program of Austin Theological Seminary). Austin, Texas. Mark will use a variety of applied storytelling practices to help build a community of support for young adults and undocumented immigrants in Austin. He will produce a number of live Hearth storytelling events including “Stranger in a Strange Land” (in support of refugee non-profits) on April 27th. “Wilderness Tales” (in support of environmental activists) on May 18th and “How Art Saved My Life” (art in schools programs) on June 4th
June 11, 2017. Westminster Presbyterian Church. Austin, TX. “Courageous Conversations: Compassion in a Time of Political Chaos.” A three-hour workshop on practicing compassion when triggered by politics. Event runs 6 to 9pm.
July 1, 2017. Breaking Down Walls:True Tales from Austin Immigrants. Austin, TX. Mark Yaconelli will host an evening of true stories from local Latino immigrants and help produce a gallery of over 100 personal stories from undocumented immigrants in Austin. Takes place at The Mexican American Cultural Center from 7 to 10pm. More information here.
August 3-4, 2017. CAMPS. Pittsfield, MA. Mark will be the keynote speaker at this gathering of Catholic young people from Massachusetts.
November 16-19, 2017. National Youth Workers Convention. Memphis, TN. Mark will be a keynote presenter and lead various workshops.
